About the Film

Bob is a courier.

Every day, he drives around the eccentric seaside town of Hastings delivering parcels to strangers who barely notice he exists. Once, Bob dreamt of becoming a writer. Now he spends his evenings alone in a cluttered flat filled with crystals, self-help books, and half-finished plans for a better life.

Then he delivers a package to Natalie Sutherland.

Natalie is trapped in an abusive marriage, and after witnessing a shocking act of domestic violence, Bob becomes convinced he can save her. But what starts as concern quickly spirals into something far darker.

As Bob inserts himself deeper and deeper into Natalie's life, he crosses boundaries that no sane person would cross. Watching. Following. Stalking. Catfishing. All the while convincing himself that his intentions are noble.

Set against the backdrop of Hastings' rain-soaked streets, crumbling seafronts and colourful cast of oddballs, Courier is a darkly comic psychological thriller about loneliness, obsession, and the dangerous stories people tell themselves.

Combining black humour and spiralling tension, the film explores a disturbing modern truth: we know almost nothing about the strangers who enter our lives every day, and yet they often know far more about us than we realise.

Courier has been conceived as a contained, character-driven thriller with strong commercial appeal. The story is set primarily in Hastings and a small number of locations. It features a modest cast, and relies on atmosphere, suspense, character and psychological tension rather than expensive visual effects or large-scale action sequences.

As a result, the project is well suited to independent production while retaining the potential to scale with the ambitions of a larger production partner.
